An Aldine Independent School District peace officer was assigned to conduct a follow-up investigation about an improper relationship between Vera and a student at Stovall Middle School, according to the District Attorney's Office.Vera, an English teacher, allegedly admitted to having a sexual relationship since September with the student.
Prosecutors say Alexandria Vera not only engaged in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student, but the teacher, who already has one child, became pregnant by the eighth-grader.

She surrendered to authorities last May after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Vera met the student when he took her English class during summer school back in 2015.She later sent a message to the student after not being in class, which led to the student asking for her phone number.According to an admittedly unscientific survey by Houston PR firm Drive West Communications, Texas has the most incidents of illegal teacher-student sex of any state in the nation.The affidavit states the girl's mother told Northside Independent School District police in December that her daughter admitted to having a sexual relationship with the suspect.The mother told police she found dozens of text messages between them, including inappropriate images, the affidavit stated.(Alabama is head of the class for this dishonor on a per capita basis.) Drive West, helmed by Terry Abbott, a former Houston Independent School District press secretary and later U. Department of Education chief of staff, found that were 179 such Texas incidents last year, up 27 percent from three years before.
